6th Grade Reader Leaders
Reader Leaders earn the title by exceeding their grade level's reading WIG for the quarter. Once these students have proven themselves as successful readers, they are then invited back to their elementary school to work in a teacher's classroom of their choosing. Part of the vision of this program is for middle school students who have made a successful transition return to their elementary school to model that success. Another goal is that as a successful middle school student, you have have or are cultivating a new, more advanced skill set that should be helpful in an elementary school classroom. A few of those activities might be:
- Reading to individual students/small group or whole class
- Tutoring one-on-one or with a small group
- Working to help students with spelling or sight words
- Student Interviews
- Sorting books, straightening shelves
- Cutting out resources, bulletin boards
- Leading a reading station or activity
- And many more!
